Photography Department Chairman Anthony O’Brien and Technical Faculty member Chris Nail took the high road up to Taos on Nov. 12, 2016 on another trip into northern New Mexico to take photographs of churches and the New Mexican landscape.
On Oct. 8, at 10 a.m., Head of the Photography Department Anthony O’Brien and Technical Faculty member Chris Nail took five photography students and one student journalist on a field trip to visit the Christ in the Desert monastery, and take photographs of the New Mexican landscape along the way.
The African Drum Ensemble first started when Santa Fe University of Art and Design was called the College of Santa Fe, and was taught by a couple who still live in Santa Fe. Since then there has been a progression of people who have taken on the class, but Fred Simpson—its current instructor—has taught it since the last year of the College of Santa Fe and still teaches it now.
On April 7, the winners of Fogelson Library’s research paper contest were announced. Austin Hanna, Anthony Liparulo and Crystal Lyman were the recipients. All three are second semester freshmen; Hanna and Lyman are digital arts and animation (DABD) majors, and Liparulo is a film major.
On March 24, Santa Fe University of Art and Design’s Southwest Annex was transformed into a temporary art gallery for Phát Lê, Sarah Rothenthal and Chase Stafford, the first group of seniors in the graduating class of 2016. Their Studio Arts BFA Senior Thesis Exhibition was a huge success, attracting attention from students across departments, as well as members of the Santa Fe community. But, this opening senior thesis exhibition marks the beginning of a change in the way the Studio Arts senior shows are run.
On March 5, people all around the world gathered together to edit or create Wikipedia pages in honor of women throughout history who haven’t had their accomplishments recognized on the Internet. Santa Fe was no exception.
