WTF Film Club’s Good Timing...

On Feb. 29, the WTF film club showed William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet staring Oscar winning Leonardo DiCaprio. When asked if the film was shown in honor of DiCaprio winning best male lead at the Oscars the night before, Riley Gardner replied with, “it was just good timing.” Gardner and Julie Wittrock both run the club together and both watched DiCaprio win at the Oscars. Wittrock and Gardner were not surprised when DiCaprio won. Gardner was actually working at The Screen during the Oscars and recalled how the theater was ecstatic when DiCaprio won. While Wittrock’s favorite DiCaprio movie is Rome + Juliet, Gardner’s is the classic film, Titanic. “Seeing those people who made Titanic possible still active and still winning is heartwarming,” Gardner says fondly. Nathan Smerage’s Solo EP...

Until recently, CMP senior Nathan Smerage wasn’t sure what releasing his solo music would mean. While writing and recording the songs for his upcoming EP Rain Check, Smerage was surprised to find that his initial vision for the collection was not at all like what he would end up producing. The EP will be released at his senior show in April.

The Black Student Union put on its Black History Show on Feb. 20 in The Forum to celebrate Black History Month. With help from the NAACP, the organization was able to showcase some of the best performance talent on campus. The goal was to “pay homage to African American/Black culture and the concepts of unity and liberation.” While some acts unveiled themselves for the first time, others acted as an encore from a similar event previous for Martin Luther King Jr....
