All Is Lost, Robert Redford’s Capstone Performance

Academy Award winner Robert Redford, age 77, has still got it! In J.C Chandor’s latest thriller, All Is Lost, Redford plays an unnamed sailer who, after an accident to his sailboat, must survive the open waters and battle the elements for his life. Mary F. Pols from Time Magazine calls All Is Lost “a signal film achievement and the capstone to a great star’s career. This is Ultimate Redford.”

The setting is 19th century Rome and the diva is the beautiful Tosca, who is loved by Cavaradossi and desired by the destructive chief of police, Scarpia. Add the complexities of politics, control, suspicion and a lavish production design, and the enchantingly rich world of the Tosca opera is complete.  London’s Royal Opera House has never looked so good!
