DFC FAQ
Now that students are getting back in the swing of things, Ron Nunnelly, director of the Driscoll Fitness Center, tells Jackalope a few key things that every student should know if they’re hoping to get their jog on.
“First thing’s first, when you come in, you need to sign in!” Nunnelly laughs.
1. The DFC is essentially run by Nunnelly’s student work study staff. It is a place for the students, by the students.
2. Being a good athlete is not a requirement to utilize all the DFC has to offer. The building boasts a weight room, a cardio room, a yoga/dance studio, two racquetball courts and a full size basketball court. There are also a variety of classes and activities open to students each day.
“The important thing is that when you work out, it eases the stress and pressure of the college experience,” Nunnelly says.
3. Seeing as SFUAD does not have a student center, Nunnelly has made it his goal to transform the DFC into that place. In an effort to make the area more comfortable, there is an Xbox and a ping pong table in the main lobby for student use.
The Driscoll Fitness Center is open Monday-Thursday 9-10, Friday 9-8 and Saturday 12-5.
