Staff: Joel Chacon

Joel Chacon, site supervisor, is Santa Fe University of Art and Design’s head of security. His family comes from Ojo Caliente and La Madera, New Mexico. Chacon now lives in Española with his family and 25-year-old old daughter. Genealogy is an increasing interest to Chacon and it has allowed him to find his family’s origins. His career with SFUAD started in 2010 after his retirement from the Corrections Department at the New Mexico state penitentiary. Since the teach out has been implemented he is now the supervisor for 11 officers.  After SFUAD closes its doors in 2018, he will remain in New Mexico and look for employment within the security sector. Chacon enjoys working with the education department and contemplates employment for the public school system. If security does not pan out for him in the future, Chacon wants to be a basketball coach.
