Maidentrip, A True Story

At age 14,  Laura Dekker wants to be the youngest person to sail around the world alone. Equipped with a camera, she pursues her dream despite a year-long battle with Dutch authorities and searches for freedom and adventure. Mixing Laura’s footage and footage from locations like the Galapagos Islands, French Polynesia, Australia, and South Africa, Director Jillian Schlesinger intertwines the story of a girl and her daring dream. Opens Friday.

No plot, no specific characters, but a picturesque slow-motion commentary on the nature of humankind. Reggio’s newest lesson? We are all just visitors. Presented by Steven Soderbergh in Black and White digital 4k footage and accompanied by a Philip Glass score, the world of Reggio will leave the ordinary world looking bland.
