Intramural Sports

“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”

 -Patches O’Houlihan (Dodgeball)

Nunnelly says, “Dodgeball is one of our popular activities.” Indeed, dozens of students show up on any given Dodgeball night to play a little and laugh a lot. All students are welcome with open arms, and blocking arms, in the gym for Dodgeball. David Roth, a Film major, says “What I like most [about Dodgeball] is how much fun I have each week playing it. It’s a good stress reliever… We get about 40 [players] each week.”

Join the game weekly on: Wed. 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Other sports at the DFC include: basketball (Mon. 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.), soccer (Tues. 7 p.m. – 10 p.m), ultimate frisbee (Thurs. 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.), and volleyball (Fri. 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.).

Tips on Working Out

Getting to the gym can be incredibly intimidating if it’s been awhile or if being out of shape is an understatement, but the key to getting back into a groove is, as Nunnelly suggests, “have a routine, be consistent, don’t overextend yourself and have a partner to work out with.” Although there aren’t currently any official work out groups, one would be easy to put together. If you are looking for someone to work out with, go talk to Nunnelly, or any of the 10 DFC work-study students. They can assist you in finding others to work out with, and if all else fails, you can always ask around on the Student Life Facebook page. Many of us find it difficult to get back in the saddle and stay there, so having a partner or partners, can really provide that extra push.
