Santa Fe University of Art and Design senior Melissa Dow is a Creative Writing and Literature major. Dow, half Zuni on her mother’s side, is from Bluewater NM. She has attended SFUAD all four years. She chose to come to SFUAD because of its great creative writing program. Dow is close to publishing her first book with her younger sister Maria, who recently graduated from high school and is her roommate. The book is a fantasy novel set in a world of floating islands inhabited by diverse characters exclusively with LBGTQ identities. Dow also has several other works of fiction in the making. Upon graduation, Dow plans on moving to the Albuquerque area and becoming an editor.
