You Are A Human Being

Samiyah Edwards created the outdoor installation piece you are a human being to bring awareness that everyone is human to “breakup the dissociation and channel empathy.”  The piece is charcoal based on paper  and outdoors, so it will be interesting to see how it endures the elements.

“Basically I was breaking down people of all different races, genders and ages to their basic form,” Edwards says. “Hence why some don’t have faces; even at the roots, it’s identifiable as human.”
