Go here: Iconik

This semester, Jackalope staff member Sandra Schoenenstein will regularly profile interesting and accessible off-campus spots for students. This week’s pick is Iconik Coffee Roasters.

Iconik Coffee Roasters opened up just last year March. But anyone who enters this place would say it has been in Santa Fe forever. Iconik’s popularity grew fast and steady. This may be due to the store’s laid-back atmosphere and playful décor.

While soft music plays in the background, people work at their tables with their computers or just chat. The coffee offered is roasted in house in a big old roaster machine from the early 1900s and it is sold both by the cup and the pound at the counter. Almost all of the products used for the dishes are bought locally from organic trade.

Sisters Miranda and Tamarisk Scott both work in Iconik and describe the job as happy and comfortable.

“Working here is awesome and the people that come here are pleasant,” says Tamarisk Scott “ We have a nice little following here.”

I recommend the Iconik bagel sandwich made out of a delicious mixture of eggs, cheddar, bacon and seasonal veggies and, of course, a good cup of coffee to go along with your bagel.
